SAP HANA 2 platform and it will be available on 30th November for first customers, and an Express edition will be made available shortly afterwards to let customers jump-start new development projects quickly and at low cost, according to SAP, which has promised to update the software twice a year.
What SAP HANA 2 includes?
“SAP HANA 2 includes new enhancements like cloud micro services, data warehousing, support for agile IT development that make the platform available for any users who want to take advantage of the HANA in-memory technology” said Ken Tsai, SAP vice president and head of cloud platform and data management product marketing.
“One of the main ways that users can take advantage of HANA 2 in more digestible bits is through cloud microservices that are available via subscription through SAP hybris as a service (referred to as YaaS). These can allow developers to embed HANA-driven insights into applications” he added.
“SAP pioneered in-memory computing with the launch of SAP HANA in 2010 and throughout our journey we have driven breakthrough innovation on a highly stable core data platform for our customers,” said Bernd Leukert, member of the executive board, Products and Innovation, SAP SE. “The release of SAP HANA 2 marks a milestone in the industry, as it represents the next generation of SAP HANA that will propel customers toward a successful and prosperous digital future.”
According to SAP, there are also cloud microservices for text data analysis like entity extraction, fact extraction, and linguistic analysis that can be embedded into applications to process and analyze unstructured text in documents.
Data warehousing is another area where HANA 2 has been enhanced to appeal to non-SAP users as well as SAP users, according to Ken Tsai.
